[00:00:00] What's up you guys? We're going to be talking about digital marketing and how it's changing
[00:00:06] in 2024 with things like generative AI, things like chat GPT, Google BARD. And most importantly,
[00:00:16] how to make sure to optimize your website for search engines also known as SEO and making
[00:00:23] sure that you're driving traffic to your website, to your landing pages with Google and paper click.
[00:00:30] So stay tuned, we're going to talk about a lot and I'm excited to share this episode with you guys.
[00:00:36] Okay so digital marketing, I feel like it's kind of like a buzz word right? Like the phrase
[00:00:44] is a marketing people are I think people are re like overusing it too much quite frankly. And so first
[00:00:52] of all, if you haven't read my blog post about what my version of digital marketing is and how it
[00:00:56] how it makes sense for your business. You know you need to check that out at redratmedia.com slash
[00:01:04] blog. It's one of the one of the earlier posts and it's literally a book that I wrote way back in
[00:01:09] the day and it still holds up today. So anyway so it is a it is a highly sought after keyword or phrase
[00:01:18] in Google search. So I think that's why a lot of people talk about it right? That's why a lot of
[00:01:27] people you know are using those keywords in their content and it's smart because strategically I
[00:01:33] mean, I'm guilty of doing that too but I my version of digital marketing is different than what other
[00:01:38] people's digital marketing, you know digital marketing is so let me clarify first of all like what are
[00:01:44] some of the channels that are the most effective for my experience. So I think a lot of people think
[00:01:51] that digital marketing is just social media content and while that's partially true, it's only one
[00:01:59] of many channels that you need to be tapping into in order to get brand recognition right but remember
[00:02:08] there's a big difference between marketing and sales. Think of marketing as more of like an awareness
[00:02:13] driving effort right? You're creating content to show people the value that you provide to show
[00:02:19] your expertise, your authority, your experience, your background and while that's important, if you're
[00:02:26] trying to drive sales you have to know that it's a high it's a big funnel right like at the top of
[00:02:32] the funnel people may not know you once they start to know you you're sort of driving them down into
[00:02:38] the funnel of sales it's over time and the unfortunate part is as a marketer I see these funnels
[00:02:46] every single day from people and I try not to fall prey to them but at the end of the day you know
[00:02:54] if you're a business your goal is to sell right? Your goal is to provide value to people
[00:03:02] whether it's in the form of selling a product like that solves a problem,
[00:03:07] selling a service but at the end of the day we're solving problems for people right?
[00:03:11] And with when I think about digital marketing, digital marketing has so many
[00:03:18] you know in other words like business owners have so many problems to solve right when it comes
[00:03:24] to that world because it's either hey I don't have enough traffic or hey nobody knows who I am
[00:03:30] right? Or hey I don't know how to optimize my website to get more organic traffic so that when
[00:03:36] people search for me on Google or otherwise then I show up or hey why am I not showing up on google maps
[00:03:45] right? I mean these are really basic things that going into 2024
[00:03:51] my prediction is that search engine optimization or also known as SEO is going to be even more
[00:03:57] important for you to do right? And if you're a business that's you know 500,000 or less in revenue
[00:04:09] then you're probably going to need to hire somebody you're either going to have to do it yourself
[00:04:16] okay which means that you're going to have to learn and use resources available to you.
[00:04:20] Luckily we have a ton of resources at redratmedia.com slash blog and also if you're listening
[00:04:26] to this podcast hopefully you're learning something through my trainings and my teachings
[00:04:32] and through some of my content as well but you have to read about it and what's interesting
[00:04:38] about SEO is that it's constantly moving and changing. Now there are like you know proven ways
[00:04:46] and tactics for you to rank and if anybody guarantees that you're going to rank then you probably
[00:04:53] want to stay away from them now. Anyway this is a whole nother conversation but never trust anybody
[00:04:59] that's like you're you're definitely going to rank number one. Now you might rank for certain key
[00:05:05] you might be able to help somebody rank for certain keywords for number one meaning that my team
[00:05:10] could probably go in find out which keywords are opportunities for you also known as you know low
[00:05:16] hanging fruit. For example I hate saying those corporate terms but it's an example of you know
[00:05:22] maybe in your local area there are keywords or phrases that other businesses are not taking
[00:05:28] advantage of and then that's when you can swoop in and then align your product or service with those
[00:05:34] keywords and then actually rank number one or at least on the first page or at least above the
[00:05:40] fold so to speak. So in the in the local SEO aspect of things that's where you're going to be able
[00:05:48] to move the needle the most because if you have an office space, if you have a location, physical
[00:05:53] location you can experiment by you know like ensuring that your reputation is up to date getting
[00:06:02] your reviews optimizing your pages for that for that map and showing up on that map you know and
[00:06:09] there's like probably dozens of tactics to optimize for your local maps page as well.
[00:06:16] So anyway going into 2024 it's like people keep saying oh generated vei is going to change SEO
[00:06:24] and quite frankly like I just did this experiment recently where I was in chat GBT and Google
[00:06:32] Bard and I said hey give me some SEO recommendations for this website and the bot could not provide a
[00:06:41] response because it's not able to provide that response back and it couldn't read the website
[00:06:47] and I don't know if I just prompted it wrong or something but that basically told me like
[00:06:53] these AI tools are not going to be a replacement for optimizing your website and there are foundational
[00:06:59] things for you to make sure that your website your pages or landing pages your content is awesome
[00:07:06] right and your creating content is valuable. And so go ahead and listen back to some of my
[00:07:13] previous episodes on what those SEO foundations are I have plenty of resources on there and again if
[00:07:19] you're making a less than 500,000 in your business then you're going to definitely need to sort of
[00:07:25] go the DIY route where you're either doing it yourself or you're hiring like an assistant or
[00:07:31] an intern to help you with these things. Now at a certain point let's say you exceed that 500,000
[00:07:40] revenue mark then I would highly suggest to you to either hire an agency because you're starting
[00:07:46] to run out of time right hire an agency hire a consultant or contract you know somebody individually
[00:07:54] maybe like a fractional CMO or somebody that can help allocate resources for you or yeah
[00:08:01] that's basically I wouldn't I would be careful of hiring like a virtual assistant to do all this
[00:08:06] stuff for you because unless they're really well versed in doing it for your business type
[00:08:13] it's hard to you know to ensure that they do the right thing for you and you're not wasting your money.
[00:08:20] And just a real quick side note on that I have several anecdotes of people that hired virtual
[00:08:26] assistants including myself to do their digital quote unquote digital marketing for them
[00:08:31] and some people are affected with it like some people you know we're fine with it but the majority of
[00:08:37] people that I've found they're they just don't have success stories with virtual assistants
[00:08:45] and that's why agencies are critical for you to tap into because they have those teams and resources
[00:08:54] that have a track record and have work with other clients so anyway so yeah once you get to
[00:09:01] that $500,000 mark into the $500,000,000 Revenue we offer packages at RedRab Media that start you know
[00:09:09] from that level and then go up where we do all that for you right and then we also have the coaching
[00:09:15] and consulting piece of the business which is also helpful for you if you don't want to go the sort
[00:09:22] of DIY or the done for you route. Anyway so digital marketing so let's talk about that even more.
[00:09:29] There are many different channels the majority people don't know which channels to do so they just
[00:09:35] do random ones they just do whatever is trending aka TikTok people are successful with creating
[00:09:41] content on TikTok I've played around with it I've tested it out you know I'm not million followers
[00:09:46] or whatever but when I found it it's literally a job like you you have to make it like a full-time
[00:09:54] job I shouldn't say that it's more of like a part-time job for you to create content to get it out
[00:10:00] there on you know social channels which is why a lot of people often you know quote-unquote outsource it
[00:10:05] or hire an agency to do it for them. I'm not a big fan of doing that with our agency because
[00:10:12] that stuff to me doesn't really move the needle nearly as much now you have to have some form of
[00:10:17] defensive content which is like you have to create something like if you have nothing you got to
[00:10:21] create something and have at least like 10 to 20 videos on your page in the form of reals and
[00:10:28] graphics and carousels just basic stuff you don't have to have a million followers to build a
[00:10:32] business right I mean like that's such a big misconception social media marketing
[00:10:37] while it's necessary I think that it is misunderstood because it's not the only way to get clients
[00:10:49] and oftentimes you don't really have control over who sees your content. I guess you could say
[00:10:55] the same with SEO too right like organic SEO you can create content but the difference is that
[00:11:00] you have you know full control over who who's intending to see that content and you have to attract
[00:11:07] people based on that and most importantly gathering leads right like you want to build your list
[00:11:14] you want to make sure email list and you want to capture those emails and email marketing is
[00:11:19] one of you know several channels that you need to tap into as well you don't have an email list
[00:11:23] you need to start somewhere whether it's a Google sheet or Excel sheet or whatever so that you
[00:11:29] could start capturing those and then paper click so when you combine things like SEO email marketing
[00:11:38] paper click retargeting campaigns creating content and then making sure that top of the funnel is
[00:11:46] that's top of the funnel right once people come into your funnel meaning your website they start
[00:11:51] viewing your stuff you're retargeting them over time you have to spend cash you know for ad spend
[00:11:56] to retarget people unless they start following you and then that's for you social media content
[00:12:02] right there that you're pushing out you capture the email you're sending out email content you're
[00:12:06] reminding people of your offer you're reminding people of your value but then also at the same time
[00:12:12] you're automating tasks that are you know minor tasks right so it could even be
[00:12:17] automating your email campaigns for certain triggers setting up you know certain scenarios and workflows
[00:12:24] for different triggers for example opt-in campaigns for you know ebooks or people signing up for your
[00:12:32] your newsletter or if you have a software tool to automate those tasks as well most importantly though
[00:12:39] when somebody gets through website you need to optimize your page right like are they converting
[00:12:44] to whatever goal it is that you have right so email is it um is it you know does the page
[00:12:52] encourage people to do a thing okay um and what I found is our software helps with that lead
[00:12:58] generation and you know your because you're providing value for free like when you provide insane
[00:13:05] value for free then people typically opt-in for that um and what I mean by insane value is like
[00:13:13] have you built something valuable to them like not just an ebook not just a webinar like those
[00:13:19] are still useful I was what I found because you know they're opting in for something
[00:13:25] um but it's like hey I have this literal like 30 day training completely free um to you know
[00:13:35] that I would normally charge thousand dollars for for example but I'm giving it to you for free
[00:13:40] you know or you know this weekend bootcamp or whatever it is so do those things um to figure out
[00:13:48] like what is actually valuable to people and the way to do that is to just ask questions um
[00:13:55] to create something to get feedback and typically um I think this is like straight from the Alex
[00:14:01] Hormosi book but or Alex Hormosi um you know strategy is use tools like Twitter and um
[00:14:09] Facebook to get feedback or even just research like what's trending in your in your industry
[00:14:15] and then solve that problem with some form of content for them and uh that that usually
[00:14:22] receive really well because at the end of the day again whether you're in you know
[00:14:27] whatever business you're in you're you're only in business because you're solving problems for
[00:14:32] people and the bigger the bigger problems you solve the more money you make at the end of the day
[00:14:37] um so real quick so on a product um when I think about like product um let's just go
[00:14:45] kind of like deep into solving problems real quick so uh if you have blackheads on your face
[00:14:53] then the problem to solve is I need to get rid of these blackheads right or if you have pimples
[00:14:58] on your face I got every pimples so the tool to solve that problem is a product and so you can
[00:15:05] um obviously a lot of these type of tools and products if they're positioned correctly
[00:15:09] then the message is like hey I have this product or you have this problem I have this product to
[00:15:14] solve that problem by our product to solve your problem right um so in the digital marketing space
[00:15:20] or like ad agency space that I'm in it's like hey you're not getting enough sales right like simple
[00:15:27] as that um and we you know we don't guarantee sales necessarily but hey we'll get you the traffic
[00:15:33] where the numbers that you're missing out on for the people that don't even know who you are
[00:15:37] for the people that are not converting for what you want for the phone calls that you're not
[00:15:42] getting for the you know lack of website traffic lack of phone calls lack of um you know
[00:15:48] eat memory or eat commerce sales or whatever those are problems that need to be solved and
[00:15:52] typically it's through um marketing okay so having said that just want to kind of wrap this up
[00:16:01] going into 2024 I think you know AI bots are gonna be useful to you know to leverage because
[00:16:07] you're still gonna need to um you know use those tools to generate content quickly or to summarize
[00:16:13] content quickly or to get ideas you know for content um and then as far as you know so you can
[00:16:22] automate a lot of things to I've been playing around with some automations where you know you can
[00:16:26] you can automate chat gpt to generate content for you and actually post it for you which is a whole
[00:16:32] another conversation for automations but um try not to do too much automation like don't over
[00:16:39] over engineer your automation because then it then you look like a robot and you know it doesn't
[00:16:44] look like you're human anymore um but I think that's useful you know to just kind of like see where
[00:16:51] that goes with marketing automations and um to save you time but don't think like I'm just
[00:16:58] gonna set it and then not even look at it again because if you do that then again you're gonna look
[00:17:03] like a robot no one's gonna even want to follow you so um and making sure that you understand
[00:17:12] digital marketing is not just one thing right it's not just social media marketing it's not just
[00:17:17] creating content on instagram or tiktok or facebook it is including social media content probably not
[00:17:25] the most effective strategy but including social media content it also includes search engine
[00:17:30] optimization for your website it also includes um let's say content marketing for creating useful content
[00:17:39] that google likes and then people like and then are sharing across the board it's also managing
[00:17:46] your campaigns right managing your email campaigns or your um SEO or excuse me your email campaigns
[00:17:53] on a regular basis sending out content to people that's valuable and useful and has offers for them
[00:17:59] but then also your paper click marketing right like making sure your ppc adds
[00:18:05] um primarily for search campaigns which is the most effective is is there and is created for
[00:18:13] customers so hopefully that makes sense talk to you guys soon peace
